
Some cultures that eat large amounts of spicy peppers tend to be prone to a higher incidence of stomach cancer. But, a recent study shows promise that adding ginger root to the same meal, might lower that risk. The compound 6-gingerol, which gives ginger its pungent taste and smell, interferes with compounds in chili peppers that might be tumor-promoting. The catch is, the ginger MUST be eaten at the same meal.
