Improve Your Body’s Inflammatory Response

More and more research points to chronic, systemic inflammation being the root of many illnesses and diseases. While acute inflammation has its benefits to help start the healing process from injury, when it becomes chronic is where the danger lies.

Specialized Pro-Resolving Mediators (SPMs) are formed from certain Omega 3 fats like DHA and EPA, found in cold-water, fatty or oily fish like sardines, mackerel, tuna, and salmon. These SPMs help your body put out the fires of chronic inflammation so it can heal properly instead of flipping the switch for chronic stress issues. Make sure you buy wild-caught only (not farm-raised).In addition to including these healthy sources of Omega 3 fats in your food program, you can take EPA/DHA supplements.

Foods that inhibit these amazing SPMs and should be avoided or limited are those high in Omega 6 fats like poultry, eggs, most nuts, most vegetable oils, most grains, corn, margarine, and the like.
